Traffic and Safety on 25A
The corner of 25A and Pipe Stave Hollow will soon be getting a left turn arrow on existing poles. Additionally, work
on the concrete curbing to install ADA compliant sidewalk ramps at this intersection is also slated to be done at the same time.
The State Traffic Signal Department, increased the time duration for the Green lights, on 25a Eastbound Traffic at evening rush hour. This change takes effect June 3 2009. The Signal light at Miller Place Road is part of a system of Six signals, starting at Chestnut Street in Mt. Sinai and all six have the same time sequence. Hopefully this change will improve traffic flow and make your ride home safer - please let us know.

Vassilaros Property Subdivision Approved
Monday, June 1 at 4:00 PM
The Town of Brookhaven Planning Board approved the preliminary plan for a Subdivision with cluster treatment. This is not good news. We will continue to work towards preservation. Your participation is crucial as there is an upcoming SUFFOLK COUNTY resolution (IR-1458-2009) to use the open space dollars for other purposes. If passed this could seriously jeopardize any opportunity to save this parcel from development.

We are pleased to inform you that our legislator, Dan Losquadro, is against this bill. Please take a moment to contact the following county officials.

Suffolk Legislators Plan to Raid Land Preservation Funding
Suffolk County Legislators Cameron Alden and DuWayne Gregory have introduced a damaging bill (Introductory Resolution 1458-2009) that would significantly reduce the amount of money the County has available to preserve open space, including farmland.
In 2007, Suffolk County voters proudly elected to extend the Drinking Water Protection Program, the County's most successful land preservation program. Now, this voter-approved plan is in serious jeopardy of losing money. The proposed bill calls for the reallocation of funds to be directed toward property tax stabilization instead of land preservation.
At such a pivotal time for land preservation in Suffolk County, as land prices have plummeted and development continues to aggressively encroach, it is vital that the County continues to have ample funds to help protect what is left.
What You Can Do
Please attend the public hearing on June 9th or take this opportunity to voice your strong opposition to the proposed bill.
